This book is hard to translate into a review. On one hand I really liked it, the writing was good, and it was fun to watch Beth blossom. There were two great guys fighting for her, and it was emotional. But on the other hand, it could have been so much more with a hundred or two more pages. The plot was not paced well in my opinion, it seemed to breeze through some parts, and spend a little too much time on others. I wish that the ending would have been fleshed out more, as well as her transformation. I also wish that she could have come into her own a bit more instead of investing so much on her relationship with Derek. I am glad though, that there is more to this story than just romance. They have singing and their choirs, and school, which is more like reality. The romance is heartbreaking though. We have Scott who has loved her even when her looks and attitude towards herself was horrid, and he is the constant. Then there is Derek who loves her voice, and tries to protect her from the darker side of his life. Morrison sucked me in, making really invest in these characters, and she broke my heart with the same.
