The Ghost and the Goth is a light and humorous novel. Kade has created some dynamic characters who are opposite in social hierarchy but drawn together because of their circumstances-- Alona is dead and Will hears dead people. I didn't expect to like Alona, I have never been at the top of the social circles, and she is a cheerleader. However, we find out that she has depth and that she has a rough family life. Will is a dark, troubled kid, with few close friends, and a huge secret. He is able to see and talk to ghosts. He is very rare, and his gift draws Alona to him. Will busts out with awesome humor, and a candid voice. It was fun to be in his head. He is labeled with a disability- schizophrenia, I mean, what would you think? The plot is paced wonderfully and I devoured their adventures and the unfolding mystery.
